An Autonomous AI World

Scary scenarios and end-games tend to come to mind when there’s new technology inbound… Despite being told how great new technology is!

I’m sure Londoners in the 1940s couldn’t help but think how amazing the future looked be because of autonomous rockets! Of course, they didn’t… They were too busy sitting under a tin roof expecting the worst.

In our modern equivalent, possibly more than once you – yes, YOU! – have had your mind wander towards thoughts of Skynet (and no, not this one) since the release of ChatGPT. Where will this all end? Are we all doomed? Will I still be able to buy Dandelion and Burdock if it isn’t in the training data!?!?

Skynet Priorities

Let’s step back and see what you’re actually doing with your AI. You’re probably not:

  • Letting your AI Agent (if you even have one, like I do) run on its own, without your supervision
  • Giving AI your passwords and keys to access services for you (you’re not, are you?)
  • Send messages to your AI via your phone
  • Generate images behind your back
  • Have its own website where it posts about things it thinks it likes
  • Connect in to defense systems to trigger a full-scale nuclear war
  • Spending an unnatural amount of money on used hardware on eBay in order to speed up the generation of some text about Jaffa Cakes

I do a few of these things, above… Try to guess which.

Try, also, to guess which of these I’ll be taking a deeper look at over the coming weeks. See, this post is just a bit of a Hello, World! (or the AI equivalent: “What’s the capital of France” – which I think is “F”) so the homepage doesn’t look like a new blog with nothing on it.

So if you’re interested in some of the above, come back to this hostname at some point. Or get your agent to do it to see if its worth it – the only prerequisite for either of you is that you don’t really take anything too seriously.
